Hey, You! Big Smiles xx
April already?! What happened there? I can smile as the sun is making a tentative appearance but then I look up from my studio desk and realise I have not talked to you here in such a long time. So, here I am to fix that.
‘Eye Spy’ something amazing happened.
This year has been exceptionally kind to me so far and I cannot stop smiling. It began with preparing for an incredible exhibition ‘Eye Spy’ with the Inverarity Gallery in Scotland. ‘Eye Spy’ is a group exhibition of international artists all creating pieces around the ‘big-eyes’ art theme. There are some amazing artists showing and I am honoured to be exhibiting with them and incredibly thankful to Anita Inverarity for inviting me to be involved.
If you would like to see more, click on the image below to see the beautiful pieces and fantastic artists exhibiting in the show.
I had seven original pieces to create in total, along with other little fabric and jewellery pieces to go along with them.
I had so much fun designing and making for this special show. It has been such a pleasure being involved and working with the other incredible artists who have contributed. ‘Eye Spy’ continues to run throughout April and whilst some of my pieces are now sold, there are still some waiting to find their forever homes. You can contact the gallery for information and payment plans are available too.

An All-Round Awesome Aussie (and Canadian) Author

Catherine Greer and Holly
Then, last month, I met the most incredible lady through a mutual friend. She is Canadian born, Aussie living author Catherine Greer and is the most inspiring, encouraging and person of all-around loveliness you could ever wish to meet. If you haven’t come across her Happiness Blog yet, then I strongly recommend you have a look for yourself. Catherine is a joy to know and her writing transforms that joy into words.
Catherine is also one of those beautiful people that have the extraordinary ability to bring smiles wherever they go. Along with those gorgeous, genuine smiles of hers, she has helped me to make a long-held abstract book writing dream into a concrete reality. Now the wheels are in motion and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to share more with you.
Suffice it to say, the two above events are closely linked. The characters I created for ‘Eye-Spy’ are now taking on a whole new life in my first children’s book. More to come …
I am so incredibly excited that I catch myself Cheshire-Cat smiling just thinking about the all the adventures they will have.
What is bringing you smiles right now? I would love to know if you wanted to share. You could post in the comments or message me if you prefer.
If you would like to keep tabs on the adventures of the Seven Sisters or hear about the silliness I have been getting up to, then you can sign up to my inner circle and I will post this to you every Tuesday for our regular chit-chat. You will also get a 20% discount voucher to spend in the shop.
Lots of Big-Eyed Love,
Deborah xx
